The name, ‘Nako’ is derived from the Tswana word for ‘time’, which in today’s fast-paced world is a precious commodity.

Nako being in Dinokeng, a big five game reserve close to Johannesburg, it is litterally an hour away and only 45 minutes from OR Tambo International Airport or 30 minutes from Pretoria and thus enabling our guests to maximise their time in nature.

Our guests choose to stay at Nako because of the unforgettable experience, from the moment you arrive and breathe in the surrounds; the seamless luxury, their sincere and passionate team, and of course the spectacular wildlife encounters, both on safari and right on our doorstep. Nako Safari Lodge has 5 luxury suites comprising of 2 suites and 3 two-bedroom suites.All the suites have king-size extra-length beds and the bathroom is fitted with baths and showers, as well as outdoor showers.

Game Drives

Looking for those authentic early-morning or sunset safari experiences? Nako offers scheduled game drives within the Dinokeng Game Reserve with our highly-qualified Game Rangers, who, along with their experience, will guide you on a journey through the spectacular beauty and wildlife that surrounds us. A selection of Game Drive beverages and snacks on request.

Guided Bush Walks

Step out on an exciting exploration with us, and have the opportunity to engage with our experienced, highly-qualified guides for the opportunity to learn more about the surrounding flora and walk amidst the spectacular wildlife that inhibits this majestic South African reserve. Children under the age of 16 years may not partake in bush walks due to safety reasons

Massage Treatments

Enjoy a massage treatment in the comfort and privacy of your suite or on the Sundeck with a gentle breeze blowing over your shoulders while you relinquish your mind to the tranquil wilderness surrounding you. Children on Safari

Children of all ages are welcome at NAKO Safari Lodge. Taking the time to reimagine a wild adventure from a child’s perspective allows us to tailor our children's’ program to suit their individual needs, because just like no zebras have the same stripes, no two children are alike. So, yes, we do have a wonderful children’s program, but it does not follow a strict timetable. We reinvent our children’s program daily to immerse your child into their natural surroundings and inspire them to really look and learn about this magical environment around them.

Your day includes:

Early morning tea/coffee, a selection of fresh fruit and pastries on the deck overlooking the river
Morning ame drive (approximately 3+ hours) including a coffee/tea stop in the bush.
Mid-morning breakfast/brunch (continental and full hot breakfast).
Leisure time – enjoy the use of the swimming pool, relax on the deck chairs on the deck looking for animals coming to the riverbed. Alternatively, relax in library or in the luxury of your own suite.
Lunch (A la carte or chef’s specials)
Afternoon High Tea (tea or coffee and freshly baked sweet and savoury treats)
Afternoon/evening game activity (approximately 3+ hours), which includes a bushveld Sundowner break and a short night drive.
Dinner of African-inspired cuisine is served on the deck, or – weather permitting – around the fire in the open-air boma.
