Experience a Mobile Safari staying Sahara style tents in amazing locations
Mobile safaris, and more specifically camping mobile safaris, are undoubtedly the most traditional way of exploring Botswana. Traveling in a small group, on a 4x4, moving camps as you proceed across remote regions, sleeping under a dome canvas tent in wild areas left entirely untouched, with no infrastructures or facilities. And unprecedentedly welcoming hosts calling these mind-blowing destinations “home”, taking you by the hand, sharing their knowledge and their culture, until you can almost feel that you’ve touched the heart of Africa.
Day 1: Arrival and Xakanaxa Exploration
Upon your arrival at Maun International Airport, Mack Air will arrange your charter flight to the Xakanaxa airstrip in Moremi Game Reserve. Our experienced guides will be there to greet you. For those staying in Maun before the safari, airport transfers can be arranged. The first three nights are spent in the Xakanaxa region, offering morning and afternoon game drive excursions.
From the air, witness large herds of African elephants and buffalo. On land, encounter smaller game animals, and explore the rich birdlife of the region.
Days 2-3: Moremi's Diverse Habitats
Moremi Game Reserve, situated on the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta, boasts diverse habitats. Explore wide-open floodplains, marshes, lagoons, woodlands, and savannah, providing excellent opportunities to view African wild dogs, buffalo herds, elephants, and red lechwe antelope. Birdwatchers will delight in the varied avian species inhabiting the region.
Day 4: Mokoro Excursion and Khwai Exploration
After breakfast, embark on a mokoro excursion in the Khwai and Mbudi channels. Journey through the Manuchira Channel, following the Khwai River to the Mababe Private Reserve. Encounter breeding herds of elephants, predators like leopard and cheetah, and an array of birdlife.
Days 5-6: Exclusive Camping in Mababe
Camp in the Mababe concession, limited to 20 vehicles, and explore the Khwai River's diverse landscapes. Enjoy day and night game drives, as well as guided walks (seasonal). Encounter elephant herds, predators, and a rich variety of bird species.
Day 7: Northern Exploration and Mababe Depression
Head north to Central Chobe, passing through the Mababe Depression. Marvel at the landscape shaped by the ancient Paleo-Lake Makgadikgadi. Encounter diverse wildlife, including lion, elephant, and a plethora of bird species.
Days 8-9: Savuti Marsh Adventure
Explore the Savuti Marsh, known for dramatic wildlife interactions. Witness lion-elephant dynamics, cheetahs, and birdlife attracted to pumped surface water. The volcanic rock outcrops provide a unique habitat for small wildlife and birds.
Day 10: Chobe River Finale
Conclude your safari with a scenic drive along the Chobe River, culminating in a boat cruise in Kasane. Traverse varied landscapes, encounter teak woodlands, and witness the vast Chobe floodplain. Consider extending your stay in Kasane or transferring to Victoria Falls for an unforgettable conclusion to your African adventure.
